
The Indonesia based PT Cita Mineral Investindo Tbk (CITA), a bauxite mining company and the first Smelter Grade Alumina (SGA) producer in the nation through its associated entity PT Well Harvest Winning Alumina Refinery (WHW), yielded a positive performance in 2020, amid the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

All over 2020, CITA posted a net income of IDR 4.34 trillion and the realization was an upswing of 11.55% compared to CITA's 2019 net income which was only IDR 3.89 trillion.
Yusak Lumba Pardede, Director, CITA, said: “Despite the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, during 2020 CITA succeeded in strengthening the Company's financial position. This can be seen from the significant increase in the value of equity and a decrease in the liability component.”
“The company is optimistic about performance in 2021 in line with the improving global economy which has a positive impact on commodity prices, and there is still high interest in Metallurgical Grade Bauxite (MGB), especially for the export market. The Company and WHW can expand market share and diversify sales of SGA and MGB, to obtain promising sales expansion opportunities."
In 2020, CITA succeeded in selling 7.95 million tonnes of MGB, of which 85.49% or around 6.79 million tonnes were export sales while the remaining 1.15 million tonnes were sold domestically to WHW associates. Total sales volume increased by 8.37% compared to 2019. Concurrently, SGA sales volume remained stable specifically 1.06 million tonnes from 2019. The Company also obtained export quotas from the government of 4.03 million tonnes respectively in April 2020 and 4.26 million tonnes in October 2020 which is valid for 1 year until 2021.
Yusak added: "The Company's performance this year is also expected to improve further along with the plan to complete the construction of the SGA refinery phase, which can increase the Company's local sales capacity."
Hidayat Sugiarto, Deputy Head - Finance and Accounting, WHW highlighted: "With the condition of mobility starting to improve at the end of 2020, it is hoped that the second phase of the WHW purification facility can be completed by the end of 2021. After completion and optimal production, WHW can increase production capacity to 2 million tonnes of SGA per year. "
On 23rd April 2021, CITA held an Annual General Meeting of Shareholders (AGMS) for the 2020 financial year in Jakarta and the Company decided to distribute a total dividend of IDR 360.39 billion from the 2020 net profit which was recorded at IDR 649.92 billion.
