The drinks are packaged in 250 ml slim cans, designed to boost shelf presence while appealing to nostalgia-driven consumers. The slogan of “Recycling macht Spaß!” (“Recycling is fun!”) has been printed on each can, emphasising the circularity and recyclability of aluminium packaging.
Guenter Spiekermann, Head of Sales and Marketing, Münsterland, explained the initiative of catering to customer interests, stating, “The flavours are already fan favourites, and now, with SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy joining the line-up, they become collectable,” imparting an enjoyable experience. This “partnership with Ball allows us to communicate the importance of recycling in a fun and accessible way,” he added.
Jag Bains, VP commercial EMEA, Ball Corporation, focused on safeguarding the nutritional value of milk beverages in aluminium cans, “particularly important for products with delicate flavourings like vanilla, chocolate or fruit infusions. They also chill quickly and stay cold longer, making them ideal for refreshing dairy drinks.”
Adding sustainability goals to the aim, Bains explained that the design “connects with consumers through familiar characters, while highlighting the circularity of aluminium. It’s a playful way to show that sustainability can be simple, engaging, and part of everyday life.”
The initiative has highlighted aluminium packaging as both a branding platform and a tool for raising customer awareness of recycling and circularity.
