According to an update by Shanghai Metal Market on May 31, 2018, Weiqiao Group in China again reduced its purchasing price for pre-baked anode by RMB 190 per tonne for the month of June. This marked a decline for six consecutive months. Earlier, in May, the price was lowered by RMB 300 per tonne to RMB 3390 per tonne in cash and RMB 3425 per tonne on acceptance. But since many producers did not accept the reduction, arguing that pre-baked anode industry was in a loss, it called for further negotiations. The adjustment brought the prices to stand at RMB 3200 per tonne in cash and RMB 3235 per tonne on acceptance.
As a result, according to SMM, the average spot price of pre-baked anode dwindled from RMB 3425 per tonne to RMB 3235 per tonne on June 1, 2018, same as that of the adjusted purchasing price of Weiqiao Group. Elsewhere, like in central, southwest and northwest, the prices showed restraint and continued to hover at RMB 3400 per tonne, RMB 3900 per tonne, and RMB 4000 per tonne respectively.

This shows that pre-baked anode prices had been marking a steady sentiment in the market, especially in central, southwest and northwest. The prices there remained flat since the beginning of this month or previous month. Even the east China market exhibited a shift in price after almost a month.
The table below shows the movement of average pre-baked anode prices across the major Chinese markets:

Other input costs, including alloys, bauxite, and aluminium fluoride remained unchanged today, on June 1, 2018. While the average alloys price drifted at RMB 15800 per tonne since 23rd of May, the average bauxite price and aluminium fluoride price hovered at RMB 430 per tonne and RMB 9100 per tonne since 2nd of May and 31st of May respectively.
