China debuts the first mission in late January, one of the largest and sensitive radio telescopes in the world after a three-year trial period. The spherical radio telescope with five hundred meters of aperture, or FAST for the intimate ones (Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope), would help to learn more about the genesis and the evolutions of the universe, and incidentally to spy some aliens. In the remote county of Pingtang in Guizhou during the year 2011, the construction began. The diameter is half Kms and it is marked as the second-largest radio telescope in the world after the Russian RATAN-600, and the largest with the single satellite dish. Dennis Barnes, CEO, Contact Energy NZ is optimistic that Rio Tinto, the major-owner of Tiwai Point Aluminium smelter can keep it open, but with an upgrade of the power grid - for when the facility does eventually close - will happen sooner rather than later. Rio Tinto's review of the ageing smelter - which uses about 12% of New Zealand's power output - is due by the end of March’20. Emirates Global Aluminium, the largest industrial company in the United Arab Emirates outside oil and gas, on 8 th February’20 made public that a giant gas turbine, the biggest in the UAE, has been moved by road from DP World’s Jebel Ali port and installed at EGA’s Jebel Ali site in a carefully-planned overnight operation. The Siemens H-class gas turbine, weighing 457 tonnes and with a length of 13.5 meters, was transported 6 Kms from Jebel Ali port, using an oversized truck.
