Aluminium ingots inventories in South China’s Guangdong province stood at 243,400 tonnes, as of April 30, down 191,400 tonnes or 44 per cent from a month earlier. Record-high shipments from warehouses and strong consumption amid low arrivals of stocks were the two primary reasons behind the dip in inventories. US aluminium scrap exports to China grow 8.6% M-o-M in February, but down 70% Y-o-Y
The US Geological Survey showed the United States’ aluminium scrap exports to China grew in February 2020, following the jump in the previous month. In February, the US exported 11,400 tonnes of aluminium scrap to China, up 8.6 per cent from January. The country’s exports in January were 10,500 tonnes after registering a surge of 255 per cent from 2,960 tonnes in December 2019. In November 2019, the US aluminium scrap exports to China were 5,400 tonnes, meaning the exports in December declined 45 per cent month-on-month. China’s alumina imports record a steep rise of 1147.1% in March 2020; Exports climb 88.18%
China, in March 2020, imported 338,600 tonnes of alumina, which was 1147.10 per cent higher than the imports in the same period last year, according to China customs data.
