The average alumina spot price in China has recorded an increase of RMB 4 per tonne on Friday, April 22, following a restraint on the previous day. According to the Shanghai Metals Market, the price has closed the week at RMB 3,010 per tonne. In March 2022, world primary aluminium production grew month-on-month by 11.23 per cent to rebound to 5.693 million tonnes, bringing the total output in the first quarter ended March 31, 2022, to 16.459 million tonnes. In February, the production stood at 5.118 million tonnes, seeing a decline of 9.38 per cent from 5.648 million tonnes in January. India’s aluminium scrap imports from the United States recorded a sharp fall in January 2022 by 31,000 tonnes or 73.29 per cent month-on-month, found the US Geological Survey. From 42,300 tonnes in December 2021, India’s aluminium scrap imports from the US plunged to 11,300 tonnes in the preceding month. In December, the imports dropped by 6,600 tonnes or 113.50 per cent from 48,900 tonnes.
