Aluminium Stewardship Initiative has certified Assan Alüminyum against Provisional Performance Standard Certification for remelting and rolling activities at the Tuzla and Dilovasi production facilities in Turkey.

The facilities, with an annual production capacity of 300,000 tonnes of flat-rolled aluminium, produce coil and sheet, foil, and pre-painted aluminium products destined for packaging, distribution, construction, consumer durables, automotive, and HVAC applications.
On receiving the certification, Göksal Güngör, Assan Alüminyum General Manager, said: “Sustainability is one of our core values at Assan Alüminyum, among reliability, flexibility and innovation. We commit to adopting global sustainability targets as a business principle, not as an obligation. This is why we are very happy to have received the ASI Performance Standard Certificate, as the ASI sets the global benchmark for sustainability in the global aluminium sector and establishes the criteria for companies in our sector to address key social, governance and environmental issues. While this certification serves as a proof of our company’s maturity level in our sustainability journey, we also perceive it as a valuable guide, for us to improve our sustainability even further.”
Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI said, “We warmly congratulate Assan Alüminyum for achieving the first ASI Certification by an ASI Member headquartered in Turkey. The company has important GHG reduction cornerstones in place, such as using hydro-based renewable energy for their production and an integrated aluminium recycling facility. This provisional ASI Certification during the COVID-19 pandemic demonstrates their strong commitment to demonstrate sustainability progress and assurance to their customers.”
The independent, third-party audit of the Assan Alüminyum facilities was carried out by TÜV Rheinland Cert GmbH.
