Argentinian aluminium producer finished 2020 at 70% capacity

According to a recent report, Argentinian aluminium producer Aluar closed the year 2020 at 70 per cent capacity utilisation. Production grew at Aluar after a halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic and weather conditions earlier this year, said the company.
“We will continue to gradually seek production planning that allows for the partial resumption of the remaining capacity usage,” said Aluar in a filing to the country’s Securities and Exchange Commission, CNV.
Late March, Aluar declared that it scaled back its output on account of the COVID-19 spread across Latin America. It reduced production by an additional 25 per cent at Puerto Madryn primary aluminum plant in that southern Argentinian city.
The Aluar cutbacks followed similar measures around the world as nations issued “shelter in place” orders to contain the spread of COVID-19.
Aluar is Argentina’s sole primary aluminium producer with a primary aluminium manufacturing facility. Besides, it has two semi-finished products plants in Puerto Madryn and a rolling mill/extrusion plant in Abasto.
