Following Delhi and Kerala, Andhra Pradesh now aims at deploying 10 lakh electric vehicles across all segments and 1 lakh charging station in the next five years. The news came after Chandrababu Naidu-led government rolled out its electric vehicle policy on Wednesday, February 7.

Per the report, the new vehicle policy introduced by Naidu will not allow any new registration of petrol and diesel powered cars. However, the government is yet to provide a timeline.
The state is also planning to replace 11,000 state-run buses into electric for achieving 100 per cent electrification in public fleet. Beside this, the state also wishes to convert all government corporations, boards, and ambulances to electric vehicles.
Around 60,000 new jobs are expected to be created with the onset of this policy. Investments required would be about some INR 30,000 crore. The state government will grant INR 500 crore for research and development of electric vehicles.
