The Andhra Pradesh government has dismissed allegations that it is facilitating bauxite mining in the agency region, stating that no proposal or official process related to bauxite mining is currently under way.
{alcircleadd}Addressing concerns raised by several ZPTC members, Madugula MLA Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy rejected claims that the state government and district administration were covertly supporting bauxite mining and a proposed hydropower project in the tribal areas. He emphasised that the ruling alliance has consistently opposed bauxite mining and recalled its earlier campaign against such projects.
"We fought against bauxite mining and succeeded in getting the government order cancelled under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. No fresh G.O. has been issued. If anyone claims otherwise, they should produce evidence," he said.
The MLA further stated that the issue had never been placed before the Tribal Advisory Committee and that there were no indications of mining-related activities in the region. He urged political parties and activists to refrain from spreading unverified information that could create unnecessary anxiety among tribal communities.

Reinforcing the government's position, Alluri Sitarama Raju District Joint Collector Thirumani Sri Pooja clarified that no bauxite mining-related activity had taken place in the district over the past four years. She said neither the state government nor the district administration had authorised any surveys or mining operations.
To prevent public confusion, the administration has directed that any private agency or individual intending to conduct geological surveys must obtain prior approval and notify district authorities. A communication has also been sent to the Geological Survey of India (GSI) on the matter. The Joint Collector warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone conducting unauthorised surveys.
Officials reiterated that there is no official proposal or administrative process concerning bauxite mining in the district and urged the public not to be misled by unverified claims.
