Anchors aweigh: Tecnomarine unveils aluminium superyachts in comeback after 3 decades

After nearly three decades off the radar, Italian yacht builder Tecnomarine is making a stylish comeback. The iconic brand is reviving its legacy with a fresh range of five custom-built aluminium superyachts, proving that some legends are too good to stay anchored.

Founded in Viareggio in 1972, Tecnomarine earned recognition for producing premium aluminium yachts before ceasing operations in the early 2000s following a change in ownership from Moreno Maestrelli and the Picchiotti family to Azimut-Benetti. The brand has now been revived by entrepreneur Massimiliano Zilioli, who has restarted production at the Navicelli Canal shipyard in Pisa.

The relaunched collection ushers in five models, viz., TM33, TM40, TM41, TM45 and TM90, ranging from 82 to 164 feet. Staying true to the shipyard’s heritage, every yacht will feature an aluminium hull and be tailored to the tastes of individual owners, for in the world of superyachts, one size rarely fits all.

“The relaunch of Tecnomarine Yachts represents an industrial challenge built on solid foundations: the shipyard’s heritage and the excellence of Made in Italy,” stated Zilioli.

He added that the goal is not only to revive a historic name but also to establish Tecnomarine as one of the leading builders of aluminium superyachts by delivering vessels focused on “safety, efficiency and a disciplined design language.”

Monaco debut on the horizon

The first stars of the new lineup – the 108-foot TM33 and the 131-foot TM40 – will make their official debut at the Monaco Yacht Show this September.

Designed with Dragoni Designlab, the TM33 blends sporty styling with spacious living areas, offering a modern interpretation of a fast aluminium cruiser.

The larger TM40, built for long-distance adventures, pairs a lightweight aluminium displacement hull with expansive glazing that keeps the sea in view from almost every angle.
