Amerlux supplies LED Light Engines with aluminum heat sink for LA Retrofit project

Amerlux recently supplied 600 Avista LED light engines for part of a major retrofit project in the downtown Los Angeles area. The Bureau of Street Lighting reported that over half of its streetlights have already been retrofitted to LED, including 600 fixtures that now use Amerlux’s Avista light engines. The city of Los Angeles expects that the retrofit project wiill save LA taxpayers almost 80 percent in energy costs.
Amerlux said that Avista was the perfect LED light engine for exterior lighting applications throughout downtown LA. The Avista LED Light Engine with a 10kV surge protector features over voltage and short circuit protection.
Amerlux constructed the IP66-rated light engine with an anodized aluminum heat sink for exceptional thermal management and stringent efficacy levels. The device construction employs a cast aluminum fitter plate with a sealed LED chamber, and street-specific optics.
At a 4000K CCT, the 41-watt Avista can deliver an efficiency of 100 lumens per watt with an output of 4,990 lumens for safety and security. The light engine boasts a long projected life of 50,000-plus hours. The Avista also comes in a 57-watt model and directs symmetrical or asymmetrical light precisely where it is needed. The LED engine’s height within the fixture can be adjusted in the field from 12 to 16 inches for a variety of lighting fixtures and to help maximize performance.
