Aluminum Association updates on shipments of aluminum products in North America

According to the Aluminum Association reports, estimated shipments of Aluminum Foil by U.S. and Canadian producers totaled 82.4 million pounds during June 2015, a decrease of 7.0 percent from the June 2014 total of 88.6 million pounds. Compared to the previous month, shipments were off 4.1 percent from the May 2015 total of 85.9 million pounds. Year-to-date shipments through June 2015 totaled 481.1 million pounds, down 6.4 percent from the 2014 year-to-date total of 514.2 million pounds.

Estimated net shipments of Aluminum Sheet and Plate by U.S. and Canadian producers totaled 730.5 million pounds during June 2015, a rise of 4.3 percent over the June 2014 total of 700.1 million pounds. Compared to the previous month, shipments increased 4.7 percent over the May 2015 revised total of 697.9 million pounds. Year-to-date shipments through June 2015 totaled 4,166.4 million pounds, up 3.5 percent over the 2014 year-to-date total of 4,024.9 million pounds.

Shipments of can stock by domestic producers totaled 361.0 million pounds during June 2015, off 1.5 percent from the June 2014 total of 366.7 million pounds. Compared to the previous month, shipments rose 3.7 percent over the May 2015 total of 348.1 million pounds. Year-to-date shipments through June 2015 totaled 2,077.2 million pounds, down 1.9 percent from the 2014 year-to-date total of 2,116.6 million pounds. Compared to June 2014, producer shipments of can stock to U.S. markets rose eight-tenths of one percent to 308.5 million pounds while exports decreased 13.1 percent to 52.5 million pounds.

Shipments of Can Stock totaled 361.0 million pounds during June 2015, down 1.5 percent from the June 2014 total of 366.7 million pounds, while shipments of Non-heat Treatable Sheet (excluding Can Stock) were off 1.3 percent to 254.2 million pounds and shipments of All Other Sheet and Plate increased 51.8 percent to 115.3 million pounds.
