
According to the USGS data, the United States imported 151,000 tonnes of aluminium scrap from Canada in 1Q2022, which registered a drop of 16,000 tonnes or 9.58 per cent Y-o-Y from 167,000 tonnes in 1Q2021. In 4Q2021, the total amount of aluminium scrap imported from Canada by the United States settled at 94,100, highlighting a Q-o-Q hike of 56,900 tonnes or 60.46 per cent in 1Q2022.

As per the data, the amount of aluminium scrap imported from Canada by the United States in March 2022 settled at 33,000 tonnes, which on M-o-M basis surged by 7,800 tonnes or 30.95 per cent from 25,200 tonnes in February 2022. In February 2022, the amount of aluminium imported from Canada was pegged at 25,200, which declined by 1,800 tonnes or 6.66 per cent from 27,000 tonnes in January. On Y-o-Y calculation, a drop of 1,800 tonnes or 5.17 per cent was recorded in March 2022 from 34,800 tonnes in March 2021.
The total amount of aluminium scrap imported by the United States in 2021 closed at 680,000 tonnes. Recycling aluminium saves 95% of the energy required to make it from raw materials. It also helps in reducing mining pollution, transport pollution and emissions, and carbon dioxide emissions.
The total amount of aluminium scrap imported by the United States in March 2022 closed at 57,800 tonnes, which went on to surge by 11,600 tonnes or 25.10 per cent M-o-M from 46,200 tonnes in February 2022. On the other hand, in February 2022, a drop of 500 tonnes was recorded from 46,700 tonnes in January 2022.
