Aluminium rolled product shipments in North America up YoY and MoM in October 2018

The Aluminum Association reports that shipments of can stock by domestic producers increased 4.3 per cent YoY to stand at 158,757 tonnes during October 2018. Compared to the previous month, shipments increased 11.4 per cent over September. Year-to-date shipments through October 2018 dropped 1 per cent to 1.5 million tonnes from the same period of 2017. Compared to October 2017, producer shipments of can stock to U.S. markets increased 9.6 per cent to 141,974 tonnes, while exports decreased 25.6 per cent to 16,782 tonnes.

Estimated net shipments of Aluminum Sheet and Plate by U.S. and Canadian producers increased 10.6 per cent YoY to stand at 361,513 tonnes during October 2018. Compared to the previous month, shipments rose 8 per cent over September 2018. YTD shipments through October 2018 increased 3.9 per cent over the 2017 year-to-date total to 3.4 million tonnes.

Shipments of Aluminum Foil by U.S. and Canadian producers increased 8.6 per cent YoY to stand at 38,555 tonnes during October 2018. Compared to the previous month, shipments rose 4.9 per cent over the September 2018 total of 367,41 million pounds. YTD shipments through October 2018 were up 1.4 per cent to 375,121 tonnes, over the 2017 year-to-date total of 370,131tonnes.
