Aluminium foil and can stock shipments in North America drop in June; sheet and plate shipments up

According to the latest reports from Aluminum Association, estimated net shipments of Aluminium Sheet and Plate by U.S. and Canadian producers were up in June 2017. Domestic producers shipped 750.5 million pounds of Aluminium Sheet and Plate during June 2017, a rise of 2.9 % over June 2016. Though the amount dropped slightly month on month, YTD shipments through June 2017 were up 2.7 % to 4,335.6 million pounds from the same period of 2016.

According to the Association, shipments of can stock by the U.S. and Canada stood at 344.9 million pounds during June 2017, a drop of 5.7% from the June 2016 total. On a month on month comparison, shipments were off 1.2 % from May. YTD shipments through June 2017 stood at 2,048.3 million pounds, down 2.7 % from the same period of 2017. Producer shipments of can stock to domestic markets decreased 6.8 % to 294.5 million pounds and exports rose 1.1 % to 50.4 million pounds.

Shipments of Aluminium Foil by U.S. and Canadian producers stood at 87.2 million pounds in June 2017, slightly off YoY. On a month on month comparison, shipments were UP 3% over the May 2017 total. YTD shipments through June 2017 stood at 485.0 million pounds, down 2.9 % from the same period of 2016.
