
Preliminary estimates by Aluminum Association indicate that aluminium demand in the United States and Canada that includes shipments by domestic producers plus imports stood at an estimated 24,296 million pounds for the f first 11 months of 2016. This records a 2.1 per cent increase over the same period of last year. Demand for semi-fabricated (mill) products records a slight increase to stand at 17,031 million pounds. Apparent consumption (demand minus exports) is estimated at 21,406 million pounds for the first nine month of 2016, up 1.1 per cent from the same period of 2015. 
Preliminary shipments of Aluminum Extruded Products (extruded shapes, pipe & tube, and rod & bar) by U.S. and Canadian producers totalled 5,160.6 million pounds for the full year 2016, up slightly over the 2015 total of 5,112.8 million pounds.
Estimated shipments of Aluminum Drawing Stock, Bare Wire and Rod & Bar by U.S. and Canadian producers totaled 1,181.1 million pounds for the full year 2016. Slightly down from the 2015 total of 1,188.5 million pounds.

Shipments of Aluminum Powder and Paste to domestic markets by domestic producers, including imports by domestic producers, totalled 75.15 million pounds for the full year 2016 which is down 18.2 per cent from the 2015 total of 91.84 million pounds.
Estimated shipments of Aluminum Drawing Stock, Bare Wire and Rod & Bar by U.S. and Canadian producers for the full year 2016 stood at 1,181.1 million pounds, slightly off from the 2015 total of 1,188.5 million pounds.
