Alumina Import Boosted in January

Alumina import volume reached to 450 thousand tons in Jan. China, increased 37% yoy.
According to the survey of SMM, owing to alumina price dropped abroad and RMB exchange rate rose that the price of imported alumina still more competitive compared with domestic alumina price. On 13th February, alumina Western Australia FOB price was $317.5 per ton while domestic alumina rose slightly after Spring Festival reached to 2620 yuan/ton.
A lot of domestic electrolytic aluminium enterprises and traders that signed long-term contract with overseas exporters all decided to increase alumina import volume, thus, China alumina import volume will boost in Jan.
