1MINS READ
Alcoa is going to celebrate the expansion of its new project in a week from now.

On February 6th, 2014, the company was a part of a “Think Tank Session” where a discussion was made on the topic why automobile industry is making a move towards aluminum. Recently Ford announced its new F-150 will comprise of 97% aluminium.

More aluminum means there will be more jobs in the Quad Cities. Alcoa announced in 2012 a $300 million in expansion project to the Riverdale plant. This means that 200 jobs will open in the plant. Alcoa is even adding 150 jobs. Crews just got over with work in that plany.

Alcoa workers told that the government needs vehicles now to have better fuel ratings. This is the reason more car companies are preferring aluminum.
