Alba welcomes high-level Chinese delegation

Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba), a leading aluminium producer in the world, welcomed a high-level delegation from the Chinese Embassy on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 to discuss bilateral ties between China and Bahrain as well as seek ways to strengthen business relationships between the two countries.

The delegation was headed by HE Mr. Li Chen, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Lin Zheming, Counsellor of the Embassy, Mr. Liu Gengsheng, First Secretary, Head of Economic & Commercial Office and Mr. Liu Guipeng, Attache, Economic and Commercial Office.

The Chinese officials were welcomed by Alba’s Chief Executive Officer Tim Murray, Chief Financial Officer, Ali Al Baqali, Chief Marketing Officer, Jean Baptiste Lucas, Director for Power & Utilities, Amin Sultan and Director for Administration, Abdul Rahman Janahi.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Murray said:
“We express our appreciation to the Chinese Ambassador, Mr. Li Chen and the officials from the Chinese Embassy for honouring us with their visit. It was a great opportunity for us to introduce the delegates to the Alba smelter, which is considered as one of the largest aluminium smelters in the world, and highlight our operations as well as systems of safety and environment that are in place.”

The Chinese delegation was given a tour around the different facilities of Alba by Senior Manager Abdulla Habib, Sr. Manager, Metallurgy, Laboratory and Customer Technical Support. During the visit, the Chinese delegates were given an insight into the vital role that Alba plays in supporting the national economy, and ways to strengthen trade ties between China and Bahrain werealso discussed.
