ProMat, one of the leading tradeshows in the US, is known for bringing together premier material-handling and supply-chain solution providers to display the newest industry advances and witnessed a fantastic crowd this year. One of them is DigitⓇ, a humanoid warehouse worker who walked erect on goatlike legs and plucked containers off shelves with strong arms fashioned of aerospace-grade aluminium.

Aerospace grade aluminium is a general phrase for specific aluminium alloys deemed exceptional and beneficial to the aerospace industry. ProMat 2023 was held in Chicago from March 20-23. DigitⓇ, developed by Oregon-based Agility Robotics, is the type of technology that can do a wide range of jobs and adapt to a wide range of processes; a fleet of Digits will be able to switch between applications based on current warehouse demands and seasonal changes.
Digit is also human-centric, which means it is the size and form of a person and is intended to function in environments created for humans. This makes integrating into current warehouse operations and as-built infrastructure simple without expensive modification.
“Three years ago, we introduced the first commercially available bi-pedal robot with a human form factor made for work. Since then, we have seen enormous interest in Digit from multinational logistics companies, and have worked closely with them to understand how they want to use Digit to improve warehouse and supply chain operations. We designed the next generation of Digit with those customer use cases in mind,” said Damion Shelton, co-founder and CEO of Agility Robotics.
