
According to Shanghai Metals Market, the A00 aluminium ingot price has dropped today, on April 9, by RMB 40 per tonne to come in at RMB 13,780 per tonne. After a sharp decline on April 1 from RMB 13,920 per tonne to RMB 13,740 per tonne, the ingot price showed a constant growth over the week ranging from RMB 13,760 per tonne, as on April 2, to RMB 13,820 per tonne, as on April 8, 2019. So, today’s drop in ingot price is after more than a week. The average prices are expected to range between RMB 13,760 per tonne and RMB 13,780 per tonne, with spot discount to settle at RMB 10 per tonne to RMB 30 per tonne. This indicates a slight growth in spot discount by RMB 10 per tonne.

As the plunge in aluminium ingot price today has touched upon all major markets in China, the price in the east (Wuxi and Hangzhou) has dropped by RMB 45 per tonne and RMB 30 per tonne to stand at RMB 13,760 per tonne and RMB 13,800 per tonne. In the north market, the ingot price has also dropped by RMB 30 per tonne to RMB 13,770 per tonne. In the south, the price is standing at RMB 13,770 per tonne too, after declining by RMB 50 per tonne.
In this background, the price of aluminium alloys (ADC12) has also recorded a plunge by RMB 100 per tonne to RMB 14,650 per tonne. But the prices of aluminium alloy (A356) and aluminium alloy (A380) are seen restraint at RMB 14,600 per tonne and RMB 15,450 per tonne, respectively.

As far as the input costs are concerned, none other than aluminium powder has registered any price change. According to SMM data, the price of aluminium powder has plunged today from RMB 17.40 per kg to RMB 17.30 per kg. The aluminium powder had previously declined on March 25 from RMB 17.50 per kg to RMB 17.40 per kg and since then recorded no movement until today, April 9.
