Precimeter just unveiled LynCor at ALUMINIUM 2026. This is our new hardware and software platform for automated molten metal level control. Along with the platform we unveiled the first product in the series, LynCor ProH laser camera sensor. Together the platform and the laser camera sensor marks the next step in our development of more connected, reliable and efficient casthouse automation. Laser camera sensors have been at the core of our business since 1995. Over three decades, we have seen how heat, slag, metal splashes and limited process visibility challenge casting operations. When maintenance interrupts production or a process issue leaves no recorded evidence, the consequences extend beyond the sensor itself. LynCor brings measurement, connectivity and diagnostics together to...
Brazilian industrial confidence weakened further in September, with deteriorating economic sentiment weighing on the outlook for sectors that consume aluminum, including construction, transportation, packaging, and consumer goods. The Industrial Entrepreneur Confidence Index (ICEI), released by the National Confederation of Industry (CNI), fell to 44.9 points in September from 46.3 in August. The decline marked the 21st consecutive month in which the index remained below the reference line. The downturn reflected weaker assessments of both current business conditions and expectations for the next six months. The current conditions index fell from 42.7 to 40.2 points, while the expectations index declined from 48.1 to 47.2 points. Brazilian economic sentiment weighs on confidence...

An active participant in recycling used food and beverage packaging, Switzerland-based Tetra Pak has decided to fund and install robotic sorting arms at some of the material recycling facilities (MRFs) to propagate the storing and sorting of end-of-life cartons. Recycling aluminium foils or cans is extremely simple as they are comprised of the purest form of aluminium that can be directly pushed through a recycling device without the need to separate any building materials. But on the other hand, aluminium laminated cardboard, paper or plastic needs to be sorted and the materials individually separated before the elements can be run through recycling drives. Tetra Pak’s fundraiser will be for eligible local authoritative groups and their waste management providers, which have not yet...

3XN, a Danish architecture company based in Copenhagen, completed its first project in France, the InDéfense office and Hôtel OKKO situated side by side between the railroad and a road in the Les Groues neighbourhood of Nanterre, overlooking the La Défense business area. The building had been erected with "different but complimentary" faceted checkerboard facades made of reflecting and bronze-coloured aluminium. The two buildings were created with a similar formal and material language and joined along one of their edges to make a longer piece of street front. This was done to produce a powerful visual emblem for the busy neighbourhood. "As the first shape you encounter when arriving from La Défense, this building had to be eye-catching and dynamic. The faceted facade and shifting volumes...

The primary driver of bauxite demand is aluminium production, which is anticipated to rise in response to increasing demand from the building, transportation, and packaging sectors. In 2021, the global bauxite market was valued at $15.59 billion, and from 2022 to 2030, it is forecast to grow at a CAGR of 1.7 per cent. The demand for aluminium is expected to increase due to favourable government regulations for electric vehicles (EV) and increased investment in manufacturing lightweight automobiles. As a result of this development, the bauxite business is likely to expand during the projection period. The United States holds a significant portion of the North American bauxite market. It is envisaged that increased production of cement and aluminium will help the market expand. The Aluminum...

The amazing outcomes of heat transfer demonstrations for aluminium coated with THERMAL-XR (TXR) driven by GMG Graphene, as compared to uncoated bare aluminium, have been provided by the Australia-based cleantech company, Graphene Manufacturing Group Ltd (GMG). The business claimed that GMG's THERMAL-XR decreases the surface temperature of aluminium by around 15 per cent at temperatures ranging from 70°C to 90°C. This claim was verified by the University of Queensland Materials Performance Consulting (UQMP). A 10-millimetre (mm) thick aluminium plate was split in two during an experiment. One half of the plate was coated with GMG's THERMAL-XR, while the other was left untreated. The undersides of the two neighbouring plates were then both heated at the same time. According to the business,...

The President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, announced on December 20, 2022, that the nation would ban bauxite exports, the primary ore source of aluminium, starting from June 2023 to boost the domestic processing of the material. Indonesia ranks among the world's largest bauxite suppliers, with China as a significant consumer. The bauxite export ban's timing complies with Indonesia's present mining regulations. During an economic forum, the Indonesian President said Indonesia would announce a ban on commodity exports without disclosing which or a timeframe for implementation. Exports of other unprocessed minerals, such as copper, are prohibited under Indonesia's current mining law. However, the President did not specify when the bans on shipments of the other materials would be implemented....
