$58m expansion strengthens Tampa Brass & Aluminum’s defence manufacturing

Tampa Brass & Aluminum is putting USD 58 million into its Hillsborough County facility following a series of new military contracts. The investment in machinery and equipment will also bring 50 new jobs to the area.

The company manufactures components for the US Air Force and US Navy, handling production from raw materials through to finished products for missiles, submarines and other military systems. The new positions will offer an average annual salary of USD 83,200.

The expansion comes under the company’s new ownership and will add positions including non-destructive testing technicians and supervisors, quality control inspectors, welding inspectors and nuclear engineering technicians.

Tampa chosen for manufacturing expansion

Company leadership also considered Amarillo, Texas, before deciding to retain and expand its Tampa operation. The company cited the area’s skilled workforce and quality of life as key reasons for the decision.

The company said the investment reflects its commitment to Hillsborough County and to the service members who rely on products supplied to the US armed forces.

Expansion supports defence manufacturing

Local officials welcomed the investment, highlighting the economic impact of high-wage industrial jobs in the county. The Tampa Bay Economic Development Council supported the project through market analysis and coordination of regional resources. Utility sales tax exemptions, electrical infrastructure upgrades, Quick Response Training grants and plans for a dedicated apprenticeship training centre were among the assistance.

The expansion also adds to the region’s advanced manufacturing base and the supply chains supporting its defence industry.

Archie Collins, president and CEO of Tampa Electric and FY2026 Chair of the Tampa Bay Economic Development Council, welcomed the initiative. He stated, “Their continued investment and plans to create more jobs are especially significant as we work to grow the advanced manufacturing companies and supply chains that support our region’s vital defence industry.”
