Conference on Energy Efficient Buildings and Regulatory Framework
Over the past decade, Andhra Pradesh has made remarkable strides in fostering energy efficiency and sustainability within its built environment. The state successfully institutionalized the Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) and integrated it into the online building permit system, ensuring its widespread implementation across commercial buildings.
In 2024, the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, introduced the Energy Conservation and Sustainable Building Code (ECSBC), which applies to both commercial and residential buildings. Building on its success with ECBC, Andhra Pradesh now has the opportunity to adopt this updated code, expanding its reach to both commercial and residential sectors, thereby further advancing sustainable urban development.
As the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) embarks on large-scale infrastructure projects in Amaravati and other urban centres, this conference—jointly organized by ASSOCHAM and ASCI—aims to integrate energy-efficient and sustainable building practices into every facet of urban planning, policy development, and project implementation.
Conference Objectives:
Highlight Andhra Pradesh's progress in implementing the ECBC and promoting energy efficiency within the building sector.
Facilitate collaboration among technical experts and policy stakeholders to strengthen code adoption across ULBs and CRDA.
Foster discussions on sustainable urban planning in alignment with national climate goals.
Bring together policymakers, urban planners, architects, and sustainability experts to drive forward the agenda of energy efficiency within Andhra Pradesh's dynamic infrastructure development.
