Optimizing Non-Ferrous Metal Recovery with STEINERT Eddy Current Separators
The recovery of non-ferrous metals is the cornerstone of any recycling process. Following key processing stages such as crushing, classification, and magnetic separation, the non-ferrous metal separator recovers clean, marketable non-ferrous metal mixtures—such as aluminium, copper, zinc, and brass. The separator’s basic structure consists of a short stretch of conveyor belt, driven at the feed end, with a high-speed rotating permanent magnet system located at the discharge head pulley. The rotating pole system generates high-frequency alternating magnetic fields, inducing strong eddy currents in the conductive non-ferrous metals. These eddy currents create opposing magnetic fields, resulting in a force impulse that diverts the non-ferrous metals from the material stream. STEINERT’s eccentric pole system is key to achieving optimal sorting efficiency and long-lasting operation.
STEINERT’s exceptional separation results are achieved through the use of neodymium-iron-boron magnets, a thin conveyor belt, and a drum shell made from electrically non-conductive composite fibre materials.
