Combined Sensor Sorting Systems

The STEINERT KSS combination sensor sorting system offers a versatile platform designed to meet individual requirements, with the flexibility to integrate various sensors, including 3D, colour, and induction detection. Additionally, the system can be equipped with a fourth sensor such as near-infrared (NIR), X-ray transmission (XRT), or X-ray fluorescence (XRF) for enhanced sorting capabilities.

Depending on the combination of sensors used, the system can handle a broad range of material separation tasks:

• Combining 3D detection with induction sensors allows for the active sorting of non-metals from metal concentrates, enabling negative sorting to remove specific unwanted objects from the material flow.
• Pairing X-ray transmission (XRT) with 3D detection provides an added layer of assessment of object characteristics, making the system more resilient to large variations in the material being sorted.

It is tailored to customer-specific needs and applications. These combinations often open up additional possibilities, such as improving the quality of generated products beyond initial requirements or enabling sorting stages that were previously deemed unfeasible.

With the option to combine up to four sensor technologies, the STEINERT KSS offers a highly adaptable sorting solution, capable of addressing various material separation tasks with a single machine. This makes it ideal for material recovery facilities handling multiple fractions in small quantities, where installing a dedicated sorting line for a single fraction is not cost-effective. In such cases, a multi-sensory sorting system operates as a stand-alone solution, processing different materials and meeting varying processing objectives in batch-feed.

The STEINERT KSS is also available in a special version designed for the mining industry, incorporating modifications to withstand wear in demanding environments.
