SMM alumina price opens the week with a growth of RMB22/t; Australian alumina FOB price rises by US$37/t

On Monday, November 18, the average alumina spot price in China has marked a hike of RMB 22 per tonne to settle at RMB 5,622 per tonne, reflecting a Y-o-Y surge of RMB 2,624 per tonne or 87.52 per cent from RMB 2,998 per tonne.

As per the Shanghai Metals Market (SMM) data, the prices in most regions have grown, except in Lianyungang and Bayuquan, which have remained unchanged at RMB 5,950 per tonne. In regions like Shandong, Shanxi, Guizhou and Guangxi, the prices have ascended by RMB 25 per tonne to settle at RMB 5,605 per tonne, 5,675 per tonne and RMB 5,575 per tonne ( for both Guizhou and Giangxi).

The Australian alumina FOB price has also marked a rise of US$37 per tonne to arrive at US$ 730 per tonne. On the same day, the high-purity aluminium (99.99%) and high-purity aluminium (99.996%) prices contracted by RMB 400 per tonne to reach RMB 27,500 per tonne and RMB 28,500 per tonne.

Primary aluminium ingot

On the other hand, the A00 aluminium ingot price has declined by RMB 340 per tonne to peg at RMB 20,510 per tonne, with the spot contract price expected to be traded at a premium price of RMB 20 to RMB 60 per tonne. The average prices are expected to range between RMB 20,490 per tonne and RMB 20,530 per tonne.

The prices in Chongqing and Foshan have contracted by RMB 350 per tonne and RMB 340 per tonne to clock at RMB 20,500 per tonne and RMB 20,430 per tonne. In Gongyi, Wuxi and Hangzhou, the prices have dropped by RMB 330 per tonne, RMB 320 per tonne to settle at RMB 20,450 per tonne and RMB 20,530 per tonne (both Wuxi and Hangzhou). In Shenyang, Tianjin and Linyi, the prices have declined by RMB 320 per tonne, RMB 290 per tonne and RMB 280 per tonne to halt at RMB 20,560 per tonne, RMB 20,610 per tonne and RMB 20,540 per tonne.

Aluminium alloy prices

The price of aluminium alloy (A356) has lost RMB 350 per tonne to dock at RMB 20,950 per tonne, with the average prices expected to orbit between RMB 20,800 per tonne and RMB 21,100 per tonne. For (ADC12) and (A380) the prices have descended by RMB 100 per tonne to peg at RMB 20,800 per tonne and RMB 21,800 per tonne. For (ADC12) the average prices may range between RMB 20,700 per tonne and RMB 20,900 per tonne. For (A380) the average prices may stand between RMB 21,700 per tonne and RMB 21,900 per tonne.
