Observing the regional distribution of exports, Guangdong continued to maintain an absolute leading position, accounting for 50.67 per cent of monthly exports, with Shandong (11.96 per cent) and Jiangsu (6.90 per cent) ranking second and third, respectively. Notably, according to an SMM survey, some enterprises in Shandong reported increased orders for integrated export projects in cooperation with Middle Eastern developers during the month, effectively supporting exports of building materials.

The pattern of export destinations in April remained stable, with Southeast Asia remaining the core market. Vietnam retained the top position with a 7.60 per cent share, followed by Malaysia (7.25 per cent) and Nigeria (5.76 per cent). With the signing of a new round of export orders by export enterprises in April, enterprises in Shandong and South China are focusing on expanding into emerging markets with significant potential for building material demand, such as South America, Africa, Russia, and Serbia, effectively supporting exports for the month.

Overall, domestic aluminium extrusion exports in April 2025 were almost flat with the previous month, slightly down 1.47 per cent M-o-M. According to an SMM survey, major export markets are about to enter a tariff policy adjustment cycle. Additionally, a joint statement was issued during the China-US economic and trade talks in Geneva on May 12, 2025, significantly reducing tariff levels between the two sides. The US has canceled a total of 91 per cent of the imposed tariffs and suspended the implementation of 24 per cent reciprocal tariffs for an initial 90-day period. SMM expects aluminium semis exports in May, especially within the next 90 days, to increase. SMM will continue to monitor the timing and implementation intensity of tariff policy adjustments in major exporting countries.
