China’s A00 aluminium ingot price experiences downward trend by RMB 170/t today but surges by RMB 460/t M-o-M

As of 2nd September, the Shanghai Metal Market (SMM) China’s A00 aluminium ingot price initiated the month with an average price of RMB 19,460 per tonne, dropped by RMB 170 per tonne from the previous day. The average price is likely to fluctuate between RMB 19,440 per tonne to RMB 19,480 per tonne.

Although the average price saw a significant incline by RMB 460 per tonne from RMB 19,000 per tonne in the previous month, this month started on a gloomy note. The spot contract is likely to be traded at a discount price of RMB 100 per tonne to RMB 60 per tonne, with an average of RMB 80 per tonne.

Low carbon aluminium price has diminished by RMB 144 per tonne to officiate at RMB 20,310 per tonne. High-purity aluminium (99.99%) and (99.996%) are also down by RMB 100 per tonne to stand at RMB 26,600 and RMB 27,600 per tonne, respectively.

Region-wise analysis:

The price of A00 aluminium ingot has dwindled across all the provinces of China. Hangzhou province has seen the most decline in price of RMB 180 per tonne to peg at RMB 19,460 per tonne. The price in regions like Foshan, Wuxi, Chongqing and Shenyang have decreased by RMB 170 per tonne to clock at RMB 19,350 per tonne, RMB 19,460 per tonne, RMB 19,430 per tonne and US$19,410 per tonne. In provinces like Gongyi, Tianjin and Linyi, the prices have been shrunk by RMB 160 per tonne, RMB 140 per tonne and RMB 120 per tonne to officially close at RMB 19,410 per tonne in Gongyi and RMB 19,510 per tonne for both Tianjin and Linyi.

Other prices:

The price of raw materials like imported bauxite has increased by USD 0.01 per tonne, closing at US$ 76.13 per tonne. The average price of domestic bauxite remains the same at RMB 640 per tonne. But, in the Shanxi region, the average price has ascended by RMB 10 per tonne, averaging at RMB 580 per tonne. Also, bauxite (6.5<=AI/Si<7.5) Guizhou and bauxite (5.5<=AI/Si<6.5) Guizhou prices have been escalated by RMB 10 per tonne to officially close at RMB 540 per tonne and RMB 460 per tonne respectively.

Interestingly, the average price of alumina also changed after a long time. The average alumina price is up by RMB 6 per tonne, standing at RMB 3,927 per tonne. The alumina prices have ascended by RMB 10 per tonne in Shandong and Henan region and RMB 5 per tonne in Shanxi region to peg at RMB 3,915 per tonne in Shandong, RMB 3,905 per tonne in Henan and RMB 3,945 per tonne in Shanxi region.

Aluminium alloy ingot:

Aluminium alloys ingot (ADC12) price also seen a drop by RMB 50 per tonne in East and South region with no change in Southwest and Northeast region. The average price stand at RMB 20,150 per tonne in both the east and south region. The price of aluminium alloy (A356) and aluminium alloy (A380) has dropped by RMB 150 and 50 per tonne with an average of RMB 19,900 per tonne, RMB 21,200 per tonne. A360 aluminium alloy has seen the most decline, at RMB 200 per tonne, now standing at RMB 20,150 per tonne.
