China’s A00 aluminium ingot price drops by RMB40/t; Average alumina spot price gains RMB10/t

On Wednesday, May 15, China's A00 aluminium ingot price dropped by RMB 40 per tonne to settle at RMB 20,470 per tonne, with the spot contract price expected to be traded at a discount price of RMB 10 to a premium price of RMB 30 per tonne. The average prices may orbit between RMB 20,450 per tonne and RMB 20,490 per tonne.

The domestic aluminium ingot prices have fallen in all the provinces. In Foshan and Hangzhou, the prices have slipped by RMB 40 per tonne to clock at RMB 20,420 per tonne and RMB 20,470 per tonne. As per the SMM data, the prices in Gongyi, Wuxi and Linyi have dropped by RMB 20 per tonne to peg at RMB 20,410 per tonne, RMB 20,470 per tonne and RMB 20,520 per tonne. Chongqing and Shenyang's prices have fallen by RMB 30 per tonne to settle at RMB 20,430 per tonne.  In Tianjin, the price has decreased by RMB 10 per tonne to RMB 20,450 per tonne.

Alumina prices

On the same day, the average alumina spot price in China gained RMB 10 per tonne to settle at RMB 3,714 per tonne, followed by a growth of RMB 20 per tonne in Henan and Guizhou to clock at RMB 3,690 per tonne and RMB 3,720 per tonne. In Shandong, Shanxi and Guangxi, the prices have added RMB 5 per tonne to stand at RMB 3,665 per tonne, RMB 3,750 per tonne and RMB 3,740 per tonne. In Lianyungang and Bayuquan, the prices have remained unchanged at RMB 3,760 and RMB 3,770 per tonne. 

Other prices

On the other hand, the domestic price of low-carbon aluminium lost RMB 61 per tonne to halt at RMB 21,429 per tonne. The Australian alumina FOB price has grown by US$5 per tonne, settling at RMB 425 per tonne.

The price of aluminium alloy (A356) has lost RMB 50 per tonne to stand at RMB 21,000 per tonne, with the average prices standing between RMB 20,800 per tonne and RMB 21,200 per tonne. For aluminium alloys (ADC12) and aluminium alloy (A380) the prices have shown no change.
