Important update regarding Indian Standard applicable to all existing Licence holders/ New applicants/ manufacturers/ importers/ product sellers for the Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy Products (EC Grade Aluminium Rod produced by Continuous Casting and Rolling) (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2024.
{alcircleadd}The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued an amendment to the quality control order titled the "Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy Products (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2024."
This amendment order will be effective from September 26, 2024.
Previously, under the 'Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy Products' (Quality Control) Order, 2023, certain exemptions were provided for small and micro enterprises as defined by the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006. These exemptions have been extended until December 26, 2024, for small enterprises and until March 26, 2025, for micro-enterprises.
According to the amended Order, all goods or articles related to 'Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy Products' must adhere to the corresponding Indian Standard 5484:1997, specifically focusing on "EC Grade Aluminium Rod produced by Continuous Casting and Rolling". These products must bear the 'Standard Mark' and acquire a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, by Scheme-1 outlined in Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
It's essential to note that this Order does not apply to goods or articles manufactured domestically for export purposes.
The certification and enforcement authority for 'Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy Products' as specified in this Order is the Bureau of Indian Standards.
Any individual found in violation of the provisions of this Order will face penalties as per the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
