There is a universal truth in business and life, "To stand still is to fall behind." This rings especially true for Beymetal Alüminyum, a dynamic player in the aluminium extrusion industry based in Türkiye. Recently, the company encountered limitations with an outdated gas nitriding furnace and saw this as an opportunity to innovate. Driven by its commitment to excellence and relentless pursuit of progress, Beymetal partnered with Nitrex to modernise its in-house nitriding capabilities, aiming for improved efficiency and scalability. The installation of a Nitrex batch-type nitriding/nitrocarburising furnace has opened new horizons in process efficiency and production capacity for the company, showcasing the power of forward-thinking in driving industry transformation.
With a significantly larger furnace size and cutting-edge technological capabilities, Beymetal has revolutionised die performance to meet the surging production demand. The NX-1015 furnace model, boasting a 2,000 kg (4,400 lb.) capacity, is equipped with Nitreg® controlled nitriding and Nitreg®-C controlled nitrocarburising, designed explicitly for treating extrusion dies for aluminium profiles used in architectural applications. These technologies ensure meticulous control over uniform case depths and nitride/nitrocarburising layer formation. This enhances the mechanical properties of the extrusion dies, leading to a longer service life and increased output per die, thereby significantly reducing the overall tooling costs for Beymetal. Moreover, the new installation facilitates more efficient use of production media and reduces electricity consumption, further enhancing the company's operational efficiency.
Utku Inan, the Nitrex sales representative in Türkiye, said, "This Nitrex system is the first of its kind in Izmir and adds to our impressive record of over 30 installations across Türkiye. When discussing our partnership with Beymetal, it was not solely about implementing a turnkey system but rather about fostering a relationship founded on trust and shared goals. Through a deep understanding of our customer's needs, Nitrex delivered a solution tailored to their unique aspirations while also ensuring efficiency and sustainability."
Marcin Stoklosa, Technical Sales Manager for the EMEA region at Nitrex, added, "The need for extrusion companies to enhance tooling performance while prioritising sustainability represents the future of the aluminium industry. Beymetal's adoption of Nitrex nitriding and nitrocarburising technologies serves as an example of this necessity. This transition harmonises production with global sustainability initiatives for a more environmentally friendly future."
