Becker Aluminium-Service, part of the Becker Group and a subsidiary of Klöckner & Co, one of the world’s largest producer-independent distributors of steel and metal products, specializes in coil processing with an annual output of 50,000 tons, supplying aluminium slit coils, custom-cut shapes, and small-format sheets in various sizes, thicknesses, and alloys. The company serves Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier One suppliers in the automotive sector and beyond.
Becker Aluminium-Service was admitted as a certified member to ASI in July 2024.
“We are excited about the ASI certification of our specialty aluminium business unit. This is yet another landmark achievement not only showing our years of know-how and expertise but also demonstrating our commitment to delivering innovative- and quality-driven sustainable market solutions“, says Becker Aluminium-Service Managing Director Ralf Schmid.
The independent, third-party audit of Becker Aluminium-Service GmbH was carried out by TÜV Rheinland Cert GmbH.
The ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022) Certification covers production processes related to the high-quality metal cycle (ready to cast) as well as the aluminium services slitting, contour cutting, high-speed milling and plate sawing at Becker-Aluminum.
About Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI)
The ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022) was launched in May 2022 following a multi-year revision process. It defines 11 principles and 62 criteria under three sustainability pillars – Environment, Social, and Governance – with the aim to address pressing sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain, such as biodiversity, Indigenous Peoples’ rights, circularity, and greenhouse gas emissions.
ASI is a global, multi-stakeholder, non-profit standards setting and certification organization. It works towards responsible production, sourcing and stewardship of aluminium following an entire value chain approach. ASI’s 380+ members include leading civil society organizations; companies with activities in bauxite mining, alumina refining, aluminium smelting, semi-fabrication, product and component manufacturing, as well as consumer and commercial goods, including the automotive, construction and packaging industries; industry associations and other supporters.
