Alumina prices in two Chinese provinces shoot up 45% M-o-M; average market pricing comes to RMB 5490/t

As of Tuesday, November 12, the Shanghai Metals Market has continued on an upward price trajectory for alumina, with some of the province's prices reaching close to RMB 6000 per tonne. The average alumina price was RMB 5,490 per tonne, an additional RMB 49 compared to the previous day's pricing.

Regional spike

The alumina prices in the Lianyungang and Bayuquan regions have gained another RMB 100 per tonne, making them the regions showcasing the highest-priced alumina region among all listed provinces. Prices in both regions ranged from RMB 5,760-5,840 per tonne (average RMB 5,800 per tonne). The M-o-M price spike in the two Chinese port regions is a whopping 45 per cent.

As for the rest of the regions, Shandong, Guizhou and Guangxi's pricing ranged between RMB 5,400-5,500 per tonne with an average of RMB 5,450 per tonne (+50). Henan was listed as RMB 5,400-5,580 per tonne range on SMM for alumina (averaged RMB 5,490 per tonne, i.e. +40 compared to the previous day), and Shanxi witnessed the highest alumina pricing among these five regions with a range of RMB 5,450-5,660 per tonne and an average of RMB 5,555 per tonne.

A00 Aluminium Ingot pricing

The overall A00 aluminium ingot price has seen a downfall on Tuesday, with a market average of RMB 21,150 per tonne as of date, observing a decline of RMB 340 per tonne to the past day. The prices ranged between RMB 21,130 and 21,170 per tonne, with the spot contract traded at a premium of RMB 30 per tonne to RMB 70 per tonne.

The average A00 aluminium ingot pricing has seen a decline in all the listed regions, with RMB 21,060 per tonne (-340) in Gongyi, RMB 21,000per tonne (-330) in Foshan, RMB 21,130 per tonne (-340) in Wuxi, RMB 21,140 per tonne (-330) in Hangzhou, RMB 21,100 per tonne (-340) in Chongqing, RMB 21,100 per tonne (-310) in Shenyang, RMB 21,200 per tonne (-320) in Tianjin and RMB 21,200 per tonne (-290) in Linyi. The provinces' price range deviated from RMB 20,980 per tonne to RMB 21,210 per tonne.

High-purity aluminium

High-purity aluminium (99.99%) saw a cost drop of RMB 300 per tonne, standing at RMB 28,200 per tonne, averaging between RMB 27,800-28,600 per tonne. The 99.96% purity aluminium ingot was indexed at RMB 29,200 per tonne, indicating the average prices to hover around RMB 28,800-29,600 per tonne.

On the same date, low-carbon aluminium was averagely priced at RMB 22,096 per tonne, with a drop in daily price of RMB 326 per tonne.

Alloy Ingot pricing

In the stance of aluminium alloy ingot prices, On November 12, the A356 aluminium ingot lost RMB 350 per tonne standing at an average of RMB

21,600 per tonne, and the A360 variant lost RMB 350, which made it priced at 21,750 per tonne on average.

On the same day, other alloys like ADC12 ranged between RMB 21,000 to 21,200 per tonne with an average of RMB 21,100 per tonne (-100), and AD380 ranged between RMB 22,000-22,200 per tonne (average RMB 22,100 per tonne with a drop of RMB 100 from previous day's price).
