The 2023 smart manufacturing demonstration factory has recently unveiled its list of units and scenes. Yunnan Wenshan Aluminium Green Aluminium Intelligent Manufacturing Demonstration Factory, recommended by Chinalco Group, has made it to the list.
The factory is the only intelligent manufacturing demonstration factory in the electrolytic aluminium industry and serves as an important achievement for Yunnan Aluminium Wenshan in building a "smart factory". This development indicates that Yunnan Aluminium Wenshan has made significant progress in green aluminium intelligent manufacturing.
According to reports, the "2023 smart manufacturing demonstration pilot factory" selection was launched jointly by several government agencies in July. They have been enlisted below:
Purpose of the Government-selected organisations
The selected enterprises will focus on process and equipment, using data as the foundation and leveraging manufacturing units, workshops, factories, supply chains, and other channels to create scenarios that integrate virtual and real elements. Ultimately, the goal is to reduce costs, increase production efficiency, shorten product production cycles, and enhance collaborative efficiency. This selection aims to build several intelligent manufacturing demonstration pilot factories and smart supply chains while also identifying leading enterprises in various industries that can replicate and promote advanced experiences and successful models of intelligent manufacturing, thereby promoting the high-quality development of intelligent manufacturing.

Through the establishment of an industrial internet platform, data centre, and business centre, Yunnan Aluminium Wenshan has achieved the goal of comprehensive digital management and real-time perception of the business status of the entire plant. By combining 5G with new technologies such as cloud computing, big data, blockchain, and the Internet of Things, the company has further optimised a number of process indicators. As a result, the comprehensive AC consumption, anode gross consumption, alumina consumption, and fluoride salt consumption per ton of aluminium liquid have been significantly reduced, surpassing the design value.

Additionally, the labour productivity and total labour production output value are obviously better than the design value. The rate of aluminium ingot quality is over 99.70%, reaching 100%.
