Xiamen Xiashun Aluminium Foil Co., Ltd. has been certified against Aluminium Stewardship Initiative’s (ASI) Performance Standard for responsible production, sourcing and stewardship of aluminium. Xiashun’s sites manufacture and sell foilstock, litho stock (CTP), light-gauge aluminium foil that is less than 10μm and lithium battery foil.
Xiamen Xiashun is the fifth company in China to achieve Certification to the ASI Performance Standard. Xiashun manufactures six- to seven-micron aluminium foil products for use in flexible packaging applications, particularly in the food and beverage industry.
Vice President, Sales & Marketing of Xiashun, Eric Loh said: “As an internationally recognized standard for environmental, social and corporate governance practices related to the aluminium value chain, the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) covers the entire life cycle of aluminium from its production to its use and recycling. Responsible production and sourcing of aluminium as well as the corporate social responsibility may lead to the sustainable development of the aluminium industry.”
“As one of the world’s major manufacturers of aluminium foils and aluminium sheets, Xiashun takes responsibility to be a responsible aluminium manufacturer, and also takes responsibility to do its utmost for the sustainable development of China’s aluminium industry.”
The ASI Certification program is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process. The independent, third-party audit of Xiashun was carried out by DNV GL.
Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI said: “ASI congratulates Xiashun for their successful achievement of ASI Certification, and their commitment to the sustainable development of China’s aluminium industry. As a major global supplier of a range of aluminium foil products for packaging, commercial imaging and batteries, their participation in ASI carries the importance of sustainability forward into a wide range of industries.”
