Xiamen Xiashun has achieved Aluminium Stewardship Initiative certification against ASI Chain of Custody Standard for its Haicang Foil Plant, Head Office, Huli Plant, and Sheet Plant in Xiamen, China. The certification includes Aluminium Re-melting / Refining, Casting and Semi-fabrication operations. The company is the first of ASI’s China-based members to be able to offer their customers ASI aluminium.
Vice President, Sales & Marketing of Xiashun, Eric Loh said, “It means a new start for Xiashun to pass the dual certification of the ASI Performance Standard and the ASI Chain of Custody (CoC) Standard. Apart from committing ourselves to become a “capable, responsible and sustainable” company, we will drive our stakeholders to join the ASI organization and make their due contribution to the sustainable development of the aluminium industry and the society.”
The ASI CoC Standard sets out requirements for the creation of a Chain of Custody for material that is produced and processed through the value chain into diverse downstream sectors.
The ASI Certification program is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process. The independent, third-party audits of the Xiamen Xiashun operations were carried out by DNV GL.
Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI said, “Sincere congratulations to Xiamen Xiahsun for now adding Chain of Custody Certification to their existing Performance Standard Certification for their three production facilities. It is exciting to see this growing commitment in the foil supply sector and among packaging users to responsible production, sourcing and stewardship of aluminium.”
