
Global primary aluminium production stood at 5.592 million tonnes in October 2020, with a year-on-year increase of 4.52% from 5.350 million tonnes in October 2019, according to the latest data showed by the International Aluminium Institute (IAI) on Friday, 20 November 2020. On a month-on-month comparison, the output rose by 3.54% from 5.401 million tonnes.

Total primary aluminium production stood at 54.186 million tonnes in the first ten months of 2020, representing an increase of 2.31% from 52.963 million tonnes in the first ten months of 2019.
In Asia ex-China, aluminium production came in at 350,000 tonnes in October, down 5.41% from 370,000 tonnes in October 2019. On a month-on-month basis, the output registered a hike of 2.64%. In January-October, the production came in at 3.431 million tonnes. That was a decrease of 6.51%from 3.670 million tonnes in January-October 2019.
In the Middle East, primary aluminium production stood at 490,000 tonnes in October, down 1% YoY but up 4.48% MoM. In January-October, the output stood at 4.853 million tonnes, a growth of 4% from 4.665 million tonnes in January-October 2019.
Europe’s primary aluminium production stood at 631,000 tonnes in October 2020. This marked a decrease of 1.71% year-on-year but 3.78% month-on-month. The output was 6.240 million tonnes in January-October 2020. That was down 1.39% YoY.
IAI data also showed that China’s estimated primary aluminium production stood at 3.230 million tonnes in October.
