In a journey to become completely plastic-free, Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa Avon, Vail Valley, has replaced its conventional in-room water packaging with infinitely recyclable aluminium bottles. This ensures a circular economy around the luxury hotel's compound. The resort has vouched to eradicate single-use plastic by 2024.

This incorporation of reusable aluminium bottles will remove almost 88,000 plastic counterparts from getting dumped into landfills. Westin has also overseen the installation of water filtration systems on every floor so that guests can easily enjoy fresh water filled into their aluminium bottles.
It is evident that The Westin Riverfront has been the first LEED Silver Certified hotel in both Colorado and the Westin group of hotels. The title was solely achieved due to its unique environmental approach. The resort supports Clean the World, a non-profit program that recycles and distributes discarded soap and shampoo products to impoverished people worldwide.
Furthermore, water filtration stations have been installed on every floor, and the Food & Beverage department has transitioned to using only eco-friendly to-go containers and silverware instead of plastic utensils. The resort has plans to introduce refillable bathroom amenities, such as shampoo, conditioner, soap, and body lotion, from next year.
In addition to these efforts, The Westin Riverfront resort is also embracing the new Town of Avon ordinance that mandates universal recycling for all residents, commercial entities, and visitors, beginning November 1st.
The resort was awarded Actively Green Certification from Eagle County's Walking Mountains Science Center last year and is partnering with them again to host free weekly "Nature at Night" educational events this winter. These events are open to both resort guests and the Vail Valley public and will run every Monday at 4 p.m. from January 8th to April 8th.
The Westin Riverfront resort is located in the heart of Vail Valley and has 230 guest residences, each with a custom kitchen, five-piece bathroom, gas fireplace, and Westin Heavenly Bed.
