Weekly update: Aluminium ingot price in China performed higher this week; Alumina price remained flat

SMM aluminium ingot price performed higher this week. The week started with an increase of RMB 210 per tonne and RMB 100 per tonne on Monday and Tuesday to RMB 19060 per tonne and RMB 19160 per tonne. The price then dropped to RMB 19140 per tonne, down RMB 20 per tonne on Wednesday. Aluminium price stood higher by RMB 130 per tonne on Friday, 16 July 2021 to RMB 19410 per tonne. The price is expected to move within a range of RMB 19390-19430 per tonne.

According to the Shanghai Metals Market, China’s primary aluminium inventories continue to fall this week by 26,000 tonnes across eight major consumption areas, including SHFE warrants. Therefore, as of Thursday, July 15, China’s primary aluminium inventories have come in at 832,000 tonnes compared to 858,000 tonnes on July 8.

The alumina price in China remained flat this week. The price stood higher by RMB 4 per tonne to stand at RMB 2489 per tonne on Tuesday, 13 July 2021. The price did not show any movement throughout the week.

Other raw materials like Bauxite (6.0≤Al/Si＜7.0)Shanxi, Australian Alumina FOB Price, Prebaked Anode Central, and Al Fluoride are hovering at RMB 540 per tonne, USD 300 per tonne, RMB 4525 per tonne and RMB 7450 per tonne as of Friday, 16 July 2021.
