Eventually, the company is assumed to retain around 30 people in August’20, and gradually take it to 50% that number over the following year.

The Governor of Washington Jay Inslee wrote an open letter to Roy Harvey, CEO of Alcoa for volunteering to support broker deal between the organization and potentially engrossed parties aspiring to buy the aluminium smelter, however, the American company started layoff from the next day.

The Governor said: “My office has engaged in discussions with your company representatives, and we understand that you do not believe anything can be done to keep this essential business operational. Nonetheless, we stand ready to help Intalco fully ramp back up, should you choose to do so when global markets improve.’’

After conveying his fall short to save the employees future as Alcoa’s decision came during the COVID-19 epidemic and global economic downturn, the Washington Governor guaranteed the state’s backing in supporting the plant to remain competitive.
