Vedanta reaches top-ever alumina and aluminium output in FY26 with strong metals show

Vedanta Limited reported its highest-ever production across several key businesses for the financial year ending March 31, 2026, showing strong overall performance.

Alumina production jumped 48 per cent from last year to 2.92 million tonnes. Aluminium output hit a record 2.46 million tonnes, up 1 per cent. These numbers show Vedanta's place in aluminium and its work on more output and better operations.

In its Zinc India business, mined metal hit a record 1.11 million tonnes, up 2 per cent from last year. Q4 production also rose, thanks to better ore quality and more output. Refined zinc production reached a record 851,000 tonnes for the full year, while fourth-quarter output rose by 6 per cent.

Silver production increased as well, with the fourth quarter showing an 11 per cent rise compared to the previous quarter. For the full year, silver output stood at 627 tonnes.

Vedanta also reported strong performance in other segments. Pig iron production reached a record 895,000 tonnes, growing by 10 per cent. Copper cathode production rose 15 per cent to 170,000 tonnes, while ferrochrome output increased by 21 per cent to 101,000 tonnes. These gains were mainly due to better operational efficiency and improved availability of raw materials.

Zinc International's yearly output rose 27 per cent. Although Q4 production fell a bit due to lower ore grades.

In the power business, sales grew significantly, with a 14 per cent increase annually due to strong performance at its plants. Athena plant (600 MW) ran at 88 per cent capacity in Q4. However, the oil and gas segment saw a decline. Average daily production fell by 16 per cent due to lower output from key fields.

Vedanta posted strong results from improved operations, better efficiency, and steady investments. Records came in several businesses.
