India’s largest producer of aluminium, Vedanta Aluminium announced the appointment of George English, in the position of Director - Value Added Products. Vedanta Aluminium operates one of the world’s leading single largest aluminium smelters in Jharsuguda, Odisha.
George English carries with him over two decades of rich experience in the metals industry to lead the Value Added Products vertical of Vedanta Aluminium Business, a strategic lever as the aluminium giant caters to the raw material needs of its customers with top of the line aluminium products.
English will be reporting to the Dy Aluminium Division CEO and will be based at Jharsuguda, Odisha. A metallurgical engineer by qualification, George remains logical with a methodical approach to projects that delivers results on time and in full.
Prior joining to Vedanta as Director of VAP – Aluminium Business, English created a start-up company Alberg.tech, dedicated entirely to the aluminium casting process from managing raw materials, goods inward & receiving inspection to final product quality inspection and despatch, while before that he was working the Russian aluminium producer Rusal, as Customer Technical Support and Product Development Director posted in Switzerland.
He will be responsible for leading the transition to make Vedanta one of the largest producers of quality grade sustainable aluminium alloys by providing technical support to customers to establish long-term strategic partnerships and on-board new clients.
George’s role also incorporates increasing proficiency in both production and downstream process control by working with strong technical and operational personnel and benchmarking Vedanta's operations against the competition to bring world-class manufacturing standards, CAPEX investment (when needed) to increase quality and maintain a focus on key performance indicators at all times.
