On Friday, March 1, Vedanta Aluminium announced that it is very close to its goal of having 30 per cent female employees in the workforce. The company is hopeful of achieving this milestone by the end of FY2025, much ahead of the original timeline of 2030 set by Vedanta.
CEO John Slaven said Vedanta Aluminium's current headcount is over 25,000, including direct and indirect employees, of which 22 per cent are women (direct employees). This indicates the company is on track to achieve 30 per cent of women employment in its payroll by the end of the next financial year.
"The company is on track to achieve a ratio of 30 per cent women employees on its rolls by the end of FY25. Notably, the milestone is set to arrive five years sooner than the company's stated target of 2030, with women professionals already comprising 22 per cent of the total number of employees," said John Slaven to PTI.
Slaven believes global manufacturing companies like Vedanta Aluminium must include women professionals in teams to leverage diverse perspectives, resulting in better decision-making, well-rounded offerings, and superior customer services.
"Working at Vedanta Aluminium offers women professionals the assurance of equal access to opportunities," Hemant Raghav, Head - Plant Security, Vedanta Jharsuguda said.
Vedanta Aluminium is the largest aluminium producer in India, meeting more than half of India's aluminium requirement.
