According to the US Geological Survey data, the United States aluminium scrap imports from Mexico stood at 11,700 tonnes in September 2020. In the previous month, the United States imported 10,800 tonnes of aluminium scrap from Mexico, meaning the imports in September edged 8.33 per cent higher month-on-month. The imports in August stood lower by 2.7 per cent from 11,100 tonnes in July 2020.
The United States aluminium scrap imports from Mexico in Q3 2020 totalled 33,600 tonnes, down by 17.24 per cent from 40,600 tonnes in Q2 2020.
On a year-on-year calculation, the United States aluminium scrap imports from Mexico in September 2020 stood 13.59 per cent higher than 10,300 tonnes.
In the first nine months, aluminium scrap imports by the US from Mexico amounted to 107,000 tonnes, 6.96 per cent less than 115,000 tonnes in the corresponding period last year.
The United States in September 2020 imported 46,600 tonnes of aluminium scrap in total, up 6.15 per cent from 43,900 tonnes month-on-month but down by 2.10 per cent from 47,600 tonnes year-on-year.
In total nine months, the US aluminium scrap imports from Mexico came in at 390,000 tonnes, down by 14.85 per cent year-on-year from 458,000 tonnes.
