
In December 2021, Malaysia imported 38,300 tonnes of aluminium scrap from the United States, falling incessantly by 148,000 tonnes or 27.87% month-on-month. In November 2021, 53,100 tonnes of US aluminium scrap was exported to Malaysia, which escalated by 4,400 tonnes or 9.03% from 48,700 tonnes in October 2021.

According to the US Geological Survey (USGS) figures, the total amount of US aluminium scrap exported to Malaysia in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2021 closed at 140,100 tonnes, highlighting a Q-o-Q plunge of 3,600 tonnes or 2.50% from 143,700 tonnes in Q3 2021. In the third quarter (Q3) of 2021, Malaysia imported a total of 143,700 tonnes of aluminium scrap from the United States.
For the third quarter (Q3), Malaysia imported 143,700 tonnes of aluminium scrap from the US, which heightened by 17,800 tonnes or 14.13% from 125,900 tonnes in Q2 2021. In the second quarter (Q2) US exported 125,900 tonnes of aluminium scrap to Malaysia.
However, between April to June (Q2), Malaysia imported a total of 125,900 tonnes of aluminium scrap from the United States. On the quarter-on-quarter forefront, a surge of 15,800 tonnes or 14.35% was recorded from 110,100 tonnes in Q1 2021. During the first quarter of 2021, US exported a total of 110,100 tonnes of aluminium scrap to Malaysia.
From January to December 2021, the exported aluminium scrap to Malaysia from the United States scored at 520,000 tonnes, which escalated by 102,000 tonnes from 418,000 tonnes for the same period a year earlier. From January to December 2020, Malaysia imported 418,000 tonnes of aluminium scrap from US.
