
The United States aluminium scrap exports in July 2023 were recorded at 173,000 tonnes, down by 7,000 tonnes or 4 per cent from 180,000 tonnes in June, found the US Geological Survey. In June, the export stood at 180,000 tonnes, reflecting a plunge of 16,000 tonnes or 8.16 per cent from 196,000 tonnes in May.

Thus, the United States aluminium scrap exports marked two consecutive months of fall after a hike in May by 17.37 per cent from 167,000 tonnes in the previous month.
On a year-on-year calculation, the US aluminium scrap exports in July registered a hike of 11.61 per cent from 155,000 tonnes.
In the first seven months of the year, the United States exported 1.21 million tonnes of aluminium scrap – 4.3 per cent more than 1.16 million tonnes than a year ago.
To India, the US exported 42,900 tonnes of aluminium scrap in July 2023 compared to 46,600 tonnes in June. That reflected a month-on-month decline of 7.94 per cent, learned USGS data. But on an annual basis, the export edged an increase of 13.94 per cent from 40,900 tonnes.
From January to July, the United States exports to India amounted to 274,000 tonnes, up by 2.24 per cent from 268,000 tonnes during the corresponding period of the last year.
