
The United States exports of aluminium plates, sheets and bars to Canada decreased in November 2020 after two consecutive months of hike, found the latest US Geological Survey data. In November, the exports stood at 25,200 tonnes, down by 3,600 tonnes or 12.5 per cent month-on-month. In October, the exports came in at 28,800 tonnes, reflecting an increase of 1,500 tonnes or 5.49 per cent from 27,300 tonnes in September. The exports in August were at 25,700 tonnes, meaning September saw a month-on-month rise of 6.22 per cent.

On a year-on-year basis, the United States aluminium flat rolled products exports to Canada stood down by 6.32 per cent from 26,900 tonnes.
The United States total aluminium plates, sheets and bars exports amounted to 56,000 tonnes in November 2020, recording a decrease of 9.38 per cent from 61,800 tonnes in October 2020. On the other hand, the imports by the United States stood flat at 79,500 tonnes in November compared to 79,700 tonnes in October 2020.
From Canada, the US imported 20,400 tonnes of aluminium plates, sheets and bars in November 2020 in comparison with 19,500 tonnes of imports in October. This reflects a month-on-month increase of 4.61 per cent in November. The US aluminium flat rolled products imports in October rose by 4.83 per cent from 18,600 tonnes in September.
On a year-on-year calculation, the US aluminium plates, sheets and bars imports from Canada in November 2020 increased by 3,200 tonnes or 18.60 per cent from 17,200 tonnes.
