The United States aluminium crude metals and alloys imports from Canada extended decline in September 2020 by 54,000 tonnes or 26.34 per cent month-on-month to 151,000 tonnes, found the US Geological Survey data. In August, the United States imports from Canada stood at 205,000 tonnes, almost flat compared with 206,000 tonnes in July 2020. This brings the United States total aluminium crude metals and alloys imports from Canada in the third quarter of 2020 to 562,000 tonnes, down by 16.62 per cent Q-o-Q from 674,000 tonnes.
On a year-on-year basis, the United States imports from Canada in September 2020 stood higher by over 1000 per cent from 12,300 tonnes.
In the entire nine months of 2020, the United States aluminium crude metals and alloys imports from Canada stood at 1.83 million tonnes, up by 102.66 per cent from 903,000 tonnes during the same period last year.
The United States total aluminium crude metals and alloys imports in September came in at 214,000 tonnes, 20.74 per cent less M-o-M following a hike in the month earlier. In August, the United States imports were 270,000 tonnes, recording an increase of 6.72 per cent from 253,000 tonnes in July.
The United States aluminium crude metals and alloys imports in Q3 2020 stood at 737,000 tonnes, 19.54 per cent less than 916,000 tonnes in Q2.
In nine months of the year, the US imported 2.57 million tonnes of aluminium crude metals and alloys compared with 2.03 million tonnes during the corresponding period last year.
